About SCNA

Stonnington City Netball Association (SCNA) is the next phase of evolution for netball in Stonnington.

Previously known as Prahran Netball Association (PNA), SCNA is affiliated with Netball Victoria and became an incorporated Association (as PNA) in 1987.

We are based at Stonnington Sports Centre, East Malvern, and also use Orrong Romanis Reserve in Prahran for training and holiday and development programs.

We are affiliated with the Hawks Netball Club (Victorian Netball League - VNL) and support the full gamut of netball from entry level, local community competitions to representative netball programs through to the elite level Victorian Netball League.

With over 1600 registered players, SCNA provides fun, friendly and inclusive netball competitions in the city of Stonnington. We currently offer Junior, Mixed, Women’s Open and Walking netball competitions as well as the entry level program of NetSetGo. We run two Seasons a year: Feb - June and July - November. We hope to introduce an All Abilities netball program in the near future.

We offer a Representative Program for players looking to extend their netball and we run teams in 11U, 13U, 15U, 17U and Open.

Vision & Mission

To be a leading sporting association, offering netball pathways for people to achieve their personal best.

To promote and encourage participation in netball for all ages and abilities, for the local and wider community in a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment.

Our journey…

PNA was established in 1983 and took as its slogan "Fun, Fitness and Friendship". In full co-operation with the Prahran Council, we commenced competitions on Sundays on the Cato Street car park (behind Coles in Chapel Street, Prahran). With four courts and a portable administration and 'comfort' van, competitions were initially provided for ladies only. We then added mixed, men's and junior competitions. After 5 years we established an office at the new centre and courts at Chapel-on-Chapel, with competitions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, for mixed and ladies. Over the years we have utilised a number of indoor venues in the area, including Wesley College, Stonnington Church of Christ (Ardoch), Orrong-Romanis, Melbourne High School and, more recently, Bialik Sports Centre.

In 2003, we moved administration once again, to Orrong-Romanis and were based there until 2023.

In 2022, PNA changed its name to become the Stonnington City Netball Association (SCNA) to better reflect the community from which our players come and to represent the next phase of our journey. In 2024 we moved into our new home base, the Margaret Connellan Stadium at Stonnington Sports Centre, East Malvern.

We have offered a Representative Program for many decades which supports keen and talented netballers to extend their development. We offer development and teams in 11U, 13U, 15U, 17U and Open levels.

We conduct seasonal umpire courses and updates and we will continue to run coaching courses; taking into account the ever-increasing number of junior teams and the high demand from interested parents and community members.

SCNA is committed to providing appropriate programs and administration for its members, both juniors and seniors and we look forward to extending our programs to be more inclusive for all as our facilities grow.
